Result of the Veterans Tournament - 2015/16

The tournament consisted a single group playing two games to 21 points with no setting. The pair who won most games won the tournament.

At the start of the tournament, players were offered 2 alternatives regarding handicapping. Option one was to award 1 point for every 2 years by which their combined age exceeded 80. Option two awarded 1 point for every 3 years. It was generally felt that the second option presented a fairer range of handicaps across the pairs and this was the option chosen for the evening. With quite a number of games very close this perhaps proved a good decision.

Unfortunately Dave Osborne injured himself during the course of the evening and he and Liz were forced to withdraw from what looked a promising position having won all but one of there games at that point. The games that they had played were discounted from the results.
In the end the tournament was won by Robin & Wendy who lost only 2 games through the evening, with Stephen & Janet just behind in 2nd place. Two pairs finished with 8 wins apiece and were separated only by the points that they'd scored, with Duncan & Jacqui coming 3rd ahead of Ken & Vicki. Thanks to all who turned out and made it a thoroughly good evening (Dave's injury aside).
