Junior Tournaments

The Trophies:

  1. Boys Tournament - "The Nigel Miller Trophy (Boys)"
  2. Girls Tournament - "The Nigel Miller Trophy (Girls)"

Details:

  1. These tournaments are aimed at providing junior players with the opportunity of playing competitive badminton, thereby promoting both the sport and the League.
  2. Separate tournaments for boys and girls.
  3. Players should be in school years 6-11.
  4. Players who have represented their county are NOT eligible to enter.
  5. Handicapping will be based on ability rather than age.

Weymouth Community Sports Hub (Redlands), Dorchester Road, Weymouth, DT3 5AW

Cost: £5.00 per player

A total of 10 boys entered and played a round robin, but with games limited to just 11 points. For the second year running, Craig Swann proved too strong, winning all of his games. Alex Walker was runner-up, winning all but one game.
Girls - Kerrie Damon
r-up: Charlotte Moore
A good turnout saw 7 girls playing games to 15 points in a round robin to determine the winner. The eldest player, Kerrie Damon, won all of her games, narrowly beating Charlotte Moore 15-14 in the decider.
2003/4
Boys - Craig Swann
In the inagaural tournament, the boys tournament was won by Craig Swann from Weymouth who proved to be too strong for the other 7 competitors.
Girls - sad Tournament not held
Sadly only 3 girls entered this tournament which consequently had to be cancelled.
