The Knock-Out Cup final was played on Saturday between Wessex Wanderers 1 and Bishops Caundle. It was a somewhat one-sided affair with Wessex Wanderers 1 victorious over Bishops Caundle by nearly 60 points. This is the third consecutive final that Bishops Caundle have reached and lost.

In contrast, the Plate final was a nail biting encounter between two closely matched teams. Played in Charmouth's one-court hall, Charmouth 1 were relieved to win the encounter against Cerne Abbas by just 2 points!

Congratulations to Yeovil Graduates who have won the FourTwo league for the fourth consecutive season. Also to Weymouth Network victorious in Mixed Division One and Preston Racketeers in Division Two.

Unfortunately, the Veterans tournament had to be cancelled as there were not enough entrants.

20th Oct

Captains of all teams entered into the Knock Out Cup are reminded that they need to nominate their teams prior to the committee meeting on 7th November in order that the handicaps can be agreed.

The veterans tournament has had to be moved from Redlands to Westlands due to a prior booking.

The website has been updated with all fixtures and contact details for the new season in lieu of the handbook.

Remember that all clubs that have more than one team in any league MUST nominate the players for the higher teams before any games are played (Rule B3(c)). A suitable form for this is available on the website.

11th Jul (AGM)

At the AGM some rule changes were proposed:

1. Due to the withdrawal of sponsorship by Tony Pryce, the name of the league will revert to the West Dorset Badminton League.
2. Changes to Rule B1(d) because teams do not fulfil their obligation to compete in the play-off match. A simple 2-up, 2-down system will be employed, changing to 1-up, 1-down depending on the number of teams per division.
3. To modify Rule B5(a)(i) as a direct result of the change in sponsorship. A standard shuttle will be used for all league play as determined by the AGM.

These rules were all carried.

Note that the scoresheets for Mixed and FourTwo matches have been modified. Please ensure the correct scoresheets are used this season.
