Result of the Handicap Tournaments - 2024/25

Mixed Tournament

This was the first tournament held since the Covid pandemic and saw a reasonable turnout of pairs who contested a single group in order to maximise the number of games played. Each match was played as the best of 2 games to 21 with no setting, and we decided not to handicap pairs as we had little in the way of results to base handicaps on.

There were some very close games and some matches were tied, but the overall winners by a single game were Simon and Liz from Weymouth Sports. Congratulations to them and a big thank you to everyone who played.

Open Doubles Tournament (formerly Mens Tournament

With 7 pairs on the day everyone played in a single group, matches consisting of a single game to 21 points with no setting.
The 3 pairs with most games won were then put into a separate group where they played each other in a round robin with matches consisting of best of 3 games with no setting to determine the overall winner.
The remaining pairs then formed into a similar group to determine the lower rankings.

Ladies Doubles Tournament

The ladies pairs played in a single group with matches consisting of a single game with no setting. As there was plenty of time, they then repeated the group playing a second match, with the results combined in the grid below. Positions were decided on most games won and if equal then most points won.

The mixed tournament winners at the far end (Liz and Simon) playing against Lorna and Charlie who finished 2nd.
